Dear Christian…You are Not a Failure

The liberal, the media, and the religious would have you believe that due to your political choices you have failed the country, humanity and God. In their world-centered logic and reasoning they’ve painted you with narrow brushstrokes of bigotry and hatred.

I’ve seen the posts. I’ve heard the rhetoric. I’ve read the long winded blogs that accuse Christianity of failing, that claim that you do not care about women or women’s issues because you value life at conception, that accuse you of intolerance because you refuse to swallow the world view of open borders, and change your stance on what defines marriage. I’ve seen them accuse you of having no love because you don’t agree with either their viewpoint or their lifestyle. I’ve seen the media, and the religious, favor those who agree with the liberal agenda while viciously attacking those of us who don’t.

I want you to know, dear Christian, you are not a failure.

What the liberal, the media, and the religious have forgotten is that as Christians, our political choices do not define us.

You are not a republican.

You are not a democrat.

You are a Christian, a Christ follower, your identity is in Jesus, not the world.

It is that very identity in Christ that should shape your political and world view, not the other way around. It is your identity in Christ that should guide your opinions and beliefs. Your identity in Christ should govern the way you speak, the way you act, and how you react. It is because of your identity in Christ that you can love them regardless of what they say, or do, no matter how much they judge you for your faith, (Galatians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 2:4).

What they don’t understand is this…as Christians we are called to live our lives according to what God’s Word says. We cannot cherry-pick Scripture to fit our world view, or to justify our sin, or the sin of others. They don’t understand that we cannot claim to love Jesus while we are embracing the world’s standards and culture, (James 4:4).

This is the reality that the liberal, the media, and the religious cannot understand. Because we are Christians we cannot agree with anything that contradicts the Bible.

Dear Christian, you are not a failure.

It does not matter if the liberal, the media, or the religious agree with your doctrine. It does not matter if the world paints you into a corner, labels you, and sticks you in a box of their own making. Their hate is not really, truly, aimed at you, (John 15:18-25).

The Bible says this…

“Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping.” ---1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (MSG)

So, dear Christian, never let the liberal, the media or the religious tell you you are a failure, because, in the end, the only opinion that matters is the opinion of the One you follow.
